The intro of the Simpsons definitely gets the desired culture jamming effect, as the clips humour blends with the usual ironic and satirical humour often found in the Simpsons episodes. The fact that such a graphic clip is found in the usually lighthearted intro makes its controversy stand out, especially with the last image of the Fox logo surrounded by barbed wire. It's this last image which changes the meaning of the clip fun just a fun fanciful joke, to something more real and that should be brought attention too.
the video shows child labour and animal abuse, and although the cresator says it is not real, these things are actually occuring in the production of many of the goods we cosume. Controversy of this makes us think and brings attention/awareness to these very real issues so that we are more educated consumers and not simply passive viewers.
